Visualization of my year in music.
This is a visual representation of 2015 in music, based on all the tracks I've played on Spotify. 2084 different tracks from 869 unique artists played in total 7334* times over the year. Each artist is represented by a circle which size is based on the number of times the artist has been played. The circles are clustered together based on genre. Hoovering over a circle will reveal the artist it represents, genre, the most popular track and times the track has been played. Click the circle to lock it and enable you to play it using the Spotify widget below. Data has been collected using LastFM. Unfortunately Spotify does not provide an API to access user play history (Spotify, please..). They however allow users to connect their Spotify-client to LastFM and save play history that way. And luckily, I've been doing just that on most of my devices since 2007 - recording over 70.000 play events to date. Lack of unique identifiers for all artists and clean genre definitions on LastFM/Spotify means artist grouping is not always perfect. * The true count is higher as songs played in offline-mode without data connection does not count. |
